Study: South Carolina Is 2021’s 9th Least Educated State in America

Personal finance website WalletHub this week released its report on 2021’s Most & Least Educated States in America and South Carolina was listed as the 9th least educated in the country – an improvement from last year’s ranking.

In order to determine the most educated states, WalletHub compared all 50 states across 18 metrics that examined the key factors of a well-educated population: educational attainment, school quality and achievement gaps between genders and races.

How educated is South Carolina? (1=Most; 25=Avg.):

• 36^th – % of High-School Diploma Holders
• 39^th – % of Associate’s Degree Holders or College-Experienced Adults
• 37^th – % of Bachelor’s Degree Holders
• 35^th – % of Graduate- or Professional-Degree Holders
• 25^th – Avg. University Quality
• 41^st – Racial Gap in Educational Attainment
• 48^th – Gender Gap in Educational Attainment
