Florence’s Lowcountry Kitchen Announces New Executive Chef
Florence’s Lowcountry Kitchen, now located in the South Windermere Shopping Center, has named Matthew Chaplin (right) as their new Executive Chef. He is a Charleston native who attended the Culinary Institute of Charleston.
“I was born to cook, having been raised in a home that celebrated both southern and Italian cuisine,” he said. “I’ve got a soft spot for southern fare, and I am thrilled to have this opportunity to join the Queen Street Hospitality Group team and do what I love every day.”
Chef Chaplin’s background includes experiences ranging from work in dive bars and food trucks to fine dining, including studying organic cuisine in Asheville, working as the Protein Chef at Middleton Place, and most recently owning and operating Rocco’s Italian Sausage in West Ashley. After having to shut down due to Covid-19, Chef Chaplin joined the Florence’s team as Sous Chef before taking over as Executive Chef this month.
Florence’s Lowcountry Kitchen is open Monday through Saturday from 11:30 am to 9 pm, and on Sundays from 10 am to 4 pm. Brunch is served on both Saturdays and Sundays.
