Lowcountry Author Starts Publishing Label in Downtown Summerville
Local fiction author Lorna Hollifield has opened The Yellowbird Press, a boutique publishing house, in downtown Summerville. The establishment is located at “The Whistlestop House” at 139 W Luke Avenue.
Hollifield says the new full-service publishing house will not only be dedicated to getting authors on the shelf, but will also serve as a literary center, tea room, and bookish gift shop. It is meant to be a gathering place where the community can hang out, sip tea, work on projects, and find unique gifts.
The press is also offering a membership program in which patrons sponsor a teacup to hang on the “wall of fame” to mark their place. The membership comes with perks to be shared exclusively with the Yellow Bird family.
Beyond retail, The Yellow Bird Press will also offer tutoring, art nights, and writing workshops for all ages.
The business softly opened on March 23rd, but is hosting a Grand Opening all week from March 29th to April 2nd, culminating in a VIP party for members.
You can follow The Yellow Bird Press on Facebook and Instagram for the latest updates. The business is open Monday through Friday from 10 am to 6 pm.
