Crust Wood Fired Expanding to Downtown Charleston

Owner Steve Watkins and the team behind Crust Wood Fired Pizza today announced they will be opening a third location. With an estimated opening of late summer 2021, the new restaurant at 45 Romney will bring the brand to the historic peninsula for the first time.

The new location will have over 3,000-sq. ft. of interior space, as well as exterior seating and an open, indoor/outdoor bar. The space will also feature two Mugnaini wood-fired ovens, an open kitchen concept, and 24 beers on tap.

In addition to popular Crust Wood Fired dishes, this restaurant will also house an oyster bar. Named Baileys in honor of an island in Maine that is near and dear to Watkins, Baileys will be inside the Crust space but the team says it will be removed enough to feel like “you are stepping into a unique space with a different feeling than the rest of the dining room.” Baileys will feature oysters, lobster rolls, and additional seafood items from the lLowcountry, New England, and the Pacific Northwest.

Crust first opened their doors in 2013 in James Island and has since opened a second location in Summerville.

“I always wanted a downtown location, and this is a great expansion of the Crust Wood Fired Pizza brand,” Watkins said. “I’m excited for the opening and being situated off Romney. We look forward to being a must stop neighborhood place.”

Ample parking and delivery will be available.
