Home Team BBQ Joins Operation Home in Hosting 11th Annual Gimme Shelter Event on May 20th

Home Team BBQ’s downtown location will host the 11th Annual Gimme Shelter event on Thursday, May 20th. In partnership with Charleston nonprofit Operation Home, the event will “create home, health and hope” for tri-county families by raising much needed funds for critical home repairs, wheelchair ramps, and heat/cold relief programs. This will be Home Team BBQ’s first live music event since March of 2020. 

This year’s Gimme Shelter party will have a luau theme and will feature a selection of off-menu eats aligned with a Hawaiian feast. Staff will be dressed in floral Hawaiian shirts (complete with leis) and will kick off the party at 6 pm with starters such as local fish, shrimp salad, spam, and grilled pineapple sliders. Additionally, the main course will showcase a slow smoked whole hog, smoked chicken halves with mango BBQ sauce, and a fresh seasonal salad with fruit and avocado.

An open bar featuring Home Team craft tiki cocktails and live music by Junco Partner will run throughout the night. The evening will feature Operation Home’s “Build a Ramp” program, which assists in providing more than 40 families with wheelchair ramps in each year. Instead of a silent auction this year, for every $25 donated towards the “Build a Ramp” program, guests will be entered in a chance to win two tickets to the final day of the 2021 PGA Championship on Sunday May 23rd at the Ocean Course on Kiawah Island.
