The Annual Rotary Club Charity Duck Race Returns to Daniel Island on June 5th
The Daniel Island Rotary Club, alongside nine other local rotary clubs, are hosting their 15th Annual Charity Duck Race on Daniel Island on June 5th.
Established by the Rotary Club of Daniel Island in 2007, the Charleston Duck Race is a charity event that benefits Rotary community service programs. Each of the participating clubs designates one or more Lowcountry charities as named beneficiaries of the Duck Race every year. These charities represent a wide selection of local nonprofit organizations focused on health and wellness, hunger and nutrition, housing and shelter, children and families, and education and literacy. Since the Race’s inception, this event has raised over $1.8 million for local beneficiaries and Rotary projects worldwide.
This years charities include:
- East Cooper Community Outreach
- East Cooper Meals on Wheels
- Service Above Self Student Grant Fund
- Halos
- Shifa Clinic
There are different ways to donate:
- Duck Adoption
- You can adopt a duck (or as many ducks as you would like) for $10 a duck and be entered in to win the $10,000 prize
- In this method your rubber duck will be tagged with an RFID Tracker tag and entered into the thousands of other ducks and if yours crosses the finish line first, you will win $10,000
- There are also prizes for second place and 5 more prizes of $1,000
- This method is not a 501c3 donation as per the recent change in SC laws on Charitable Donations including prizes.
- Donation
- You can also donate to this duck race which will give you a 501c3 Charitable Donation toward the above causes
- In this method you will not be entered into the duck race
- Small Business or Large Business Sponsorship
- There are different levels at which a business can donate ranging from $250 to $5000, all of which provide a wide range of special recognition at the event and on the Charleston Duck Race Website
