2021 Piccolo Spoleto Festival Poster Unveiled, Advance Program Guide Released

The city of Charleston Office of Cultural Affairs has unveiled the 2021 Piccolo Spoleto Festival Poster, “A Song of Charleston” by Kate Hooray Osmond (right).

This year’s festival runs May 28th to June 13th, 2021. The advance program guide for Piccolo Spoleto is now available for download at www.piccolospoleto.com or may be requested by contacting the Office of Cultural Affairs.

Kate Hooray Osmond (b. 1983) is an American painter and installation artist based in Charleston. She earned her MFA in Studio Art from Maryland Institute College of Art and her BA from Saint Mary’s College of Maryland. She was named the State Fellow for South Carolina by the SouthArts Commission and Lowcountry Artist of the Year. She exhibited her first solo museum show at the Franklin Burroughs/Simeon Chapin Art Museum in 2018. Her paintings were included in the 2019 Biennial by the Center for Contemporary Art of South Carolina.

She is the recipient of numerous grants and awards and has exhibited internationally. Her work can be found amongst the collections of the Franklin Burroughs/Simeon Chapin Art Museum, the Medical University of South Carolina, the College of Charleston, and other public and private collections.

In an Instagram post to unveil the poster artwork, artist Kate Hooray Osmond noted, “Happy upcoming Piccolo Spoleto Charleston. You’ve been through a lot. I wish you music, art, and joy. This painting came straight from my heart as a love letter to my town. I’ve been waiting over a year to share it.”

Piccolo Spoleto, the official outreach arm of Spoleto Festival USA, was founded by the City of Charleston Office of Cultural Affairs in 1979. The 2021 Piccolo Spoleto Festival is funded in part by grants from the City of Charleston, and the South Carolina Arts Commission, which receives support from the National Endowment for the Arts.
