Nighttime and Daytime Lane Closures
On Monday, May 24th, crews will begin work on Main Road, Old Charleston Road and U.S. Highway 17 for the next two weeks. Crews will be doing subsurface exploration on these roads.
There will be temporary nighttime and daytime lane closures on:
- Highway 17 from Bees Ferry to Savage Road (9 p.m. – 6 a.m.)
- Main Road from Bees Ferry to River Road (7 p.m. – 6 a.m.)
- Main Road from River Road to Maybank Highway (Mon-Thurs. 7 p.m. – 6 a.m. and Friday 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.)
Details:
- Work is scheduled from Monday, May 24 – Friday, May 28 and again Tuesday, June 1 – Friday, June 4 during off peak hours.
- One lane of traffic will remain open at all times.
- Flaggers will direct traffic.
- Citizens are asked to be careful while driving through the construction area.
The US Highway 17 and Main Road – Segment “A” Project includes improvements along the US Highway 17 and Main Road corridor extending from the intersection of Main Road and Bees Ferry to the intersection of Main Road and River/Chisolm Road. The primary purpose of the project is to reduce congestion and improve capacity along this corridor. It also includes mobility improvements for bicyclist and pedestrian traffic.
