City of Charleston Announces Details for Monday’s Juneteenth Holiday Observance

With most city offices scheduled to be closed Monday, June 21st, 2021 in observance of Juneteenth, the city of Charleston is providing the following additional details for citizens regarding city services and scheduling:

Municipal Court:

The Municipal Court will be open on Monday on its regular schedule.

Recreation:

All Recreation buildings, facilities, pools, summer camps and programs will be operating on their regular schedule.

Garbage and Trash Collection:

In order to provide service to all residents in a timely manner, garbage and trash collection will take place on the modified schedule outlined below:

  • For Daniel Island and Cainhoy, served by Capital Waste, there will be no schedule changes.
  • For outer West Ashley and Johns Island, served by Trident Waste, there will be no schedule changes.
  • The peninsula, Inner West Ashley and James Island, served by city crews, will run on a one day delay, i.e. Monday routes will be collected on Tuesday, Tuesday’s will be collected on Wednesday, etc.

With the possibility of severe storms in the forecast for Sunday, citizens are asked to keep their garbage cans secured and place them at the curb only when necessary.
