Jody Russo Joins Lowcountry Food Bank as Chief Operating Officer

The Lowcountry Food Bank announced today that Jody Russo (right) has joined Lowcountry Food Bank as Chief Operating Officer. This critical role provides pivotal leadership of the organization’s strong and effective teams, focusing on execution of strategic goals to meet and exceed all food procurement, warehousing and distribution goals.

This role manages product procurement, receiving, reclamation, safe food handling, inventory control, logistics, fleet management, disaster preparedness, budgeting, safety, and training to support partner agencies and high-need, food-insecure communities.

Russo is responsible for identifying and driving change initiatives that ensure accountability, continuous process improvement and full compliance with applicable regulatory agencies. This role is also responsible for the measurement of all internal and external processes, analyzing trends and synthesizing and interpreting complex data in all operational areas of Lowcountry Food Bank.

“Jody will take the Lowcountry Food Bank to the next level in its ability to achieve our mission and fight hunger in the Lowcountry,” said Nick Osborne, Lowcountry Food Bank President and CEO. “Through even deeper teambuilding and utilization of the organization’s capacity to deliver outstanding services to those we serve, Jody will bring us even greater effectiveness in our commitment to our mission.”

Russo has more than 25 years of leadership expertise in operations, project management, supply chain management, and purchasing and retail disciplines. He formerly served as Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Logistics and Warehousing at Creating Living Tile, Inc. and served for more than 15 years as Chief Operating Officer, CEO and President of Wood River Foods, Inc.

He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and Business Administration from the University of Rhode Island.
