First Public Information Meeting for Hwy 78 Corridor Improvements Project

Charleston County Public Works invites residents to learn about the Hwy 78 Corridor Improvements project at the Exchange Hall Gold Room, 9850 Highway 78, in Ladson on Tuesday, August 31st from 5 pm to 7 pm.

At this meeting, staff will:

  • introduce the purpose of the project
  • provide an explanation of the design process
  • gather input from the public

The meeting will be open house style with no formal presentation, and face coverings are strongly recommended. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet with staff to learn more about the project, ask questions, and fill out a comment card. Those who cannot attend the meeting in person can view all of the presented materials and submit their comments online at hwy78corridor.com, starting August 31st at 5 pm. Public feedback is important to the development process for this project, and staff encourages the community to submit their input. The project team will accept comments until September 30th, 2021. The Hwy 78 Corridor Improvements project aims to accommodate projected increases in traffic on Highway 78 between Rivers Avenue and the Berlin G. Myers Parkway. The purpose of the project is to improve the roadway’s capacity, improve the efficiency at key intersections and ensure the corridor accommodates future traffic levels. This project is funded by the 2016 Transportation Sales Tax.
