Harold’s Cabin Reopens Thursday

After weathering an 18-month closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Harold’s Cabin will reopen today at 4 pm.

“Most businesses don’t get a chance to step back and identify what they do well and what needs work,” said Harold’s Cabin owner John Schumacher. “Being closed for so long was incredibly difficult, but it’s given us an opportunity to focus on our strengths, and that’s what we plan to do right out of the gate – focus on the best parts of the Cabin.”

A representative said the reimagined Harold’s Cabin will feature “a contemporary service model – as if Charleston’s Glass Onion and Moe’s Crosstown Tavern had a love child.” Guests order from the bar and dine in casual areas, an expanded bar area, and al fresco on the rooftop with added seating.

Additionally, the neighborhood bar has scaled back its menu offerings to offer appetizers like the Street Corn-Bread – a play on Mexican Street Corn – and incorporate more pub fare like the Cabin Burger – a cheddar cheese smash burger with a housemade onion bun and caramelized onions – or the Rice Krispy Chicken – a Schumacher secret family recipe. Longtime Cabin lovers will still find signature drinks like the tequila-based Salty Racoon on the menu, both in its familiar form and as a frozen cocktail.

Harold’s Cabin announced the hiring of a new bar manager, Joshua Hurley, as well as the return of some familiar faces like bartender Brianna Berry and Drew Childers.

“We’re almost there and we’re so excited,” said Schumacher. “We can’t wait to fill the void so many of our Westside neighbors have felt during this tumultuous time. We are greatly humbled by the abundance of support we had from the community over the last year and a half, and we are extremely grateful to finally have the opportunity to reopen and serve the community again.”

Harold’s Cabin will be open Tuesday – Saturday from 4 pm to 10 pm. For more information, visit www.haroldscabin.com.
