Every wing is dedicated to an important part of Charleston’s history. In one, visitors walk through a Lowcountry timeline and see Native American clay pipes, the colonial construction of the early city wall, and structures dating back to the 18th century.

Another section shows dinosaur exhibits and a taxidermy representation of the city’s bird population.

The entire museum can be seen in about 60 to 90 minutes, with narration describing the exhibits by genuine Charleston residents. One of the highlights is an American buffalo whose bones were discovered offshore, insinuating that Charleston’s coastline once stretched out much farther to sea in the past.

Citrus Club

If you’re ready for an adult beverage after a busy day exploring the city with your child, the city has plenty of cool bars and restaurants.

If you want to enjoy some food after taking a few of the tours, the Citrus Club offers appetizing meals with fanciful cocktails. You can either enjoy your food inside or let your host find your seating on the outdoor terrace.
