Center for Heirs’ Property Preservation Announces 6th Annual Rural & Limited Resource Landowner Symposium

On Friday, October 15th and Saturday, October 16th, the Center for Heirs’ Property Preservation will hold its 6th Annual Rural & Limited Resource Landowner Symposium. This will be a hybrid event with limited in-person participation at the North Charleston Marriott Hotel and online virtually. The cost for this two-day educational event is Free.  

If you need help with heirs’ property or if you want to learn more about managing your land for timber to provide increased income for you and your family, the Center invites you to participate in  this unique event catered specifically for landowners. Whether you attend in-person (limited attendance in accordance with CDC guidelines), or from the comfort of your own home or office,  you can enjoy special guest speakers, expert panelists who are Natural Resource professionals from  both state and federal agencies.

“This is an incredible opportunity for local landowners,” said Dr. Jennie L. Stephens, CEO for the Center for Heirs’ Property Preservation. “We will have so many resources in one place at one time to help those with limited means gain the knowledge and access the tools to help their land work for them, helping to create family wealth for future generations.”

This 2-Day Conference is for ALL landowners and will include educational and networking opportunities to learn more about land ownership, including agricultural and forestry management,  and technical and financial assistance from experts and partner representatives. We’re pleased to  announce that our featured keynote speaker is Professor Faith Rivers James, who is the Assistant Provost for Leadership at The Citadel and has been a leader in the property preservation movement.

Panels on the Benefits of Longleaf Pine, New and Beginning Farmers, Importance of Boundary Lines and Fundamentals of Timber Sales, Building a Forestry Business, Silvia Terra – Carbon  Credits, Environmental Justice, Conservation and Resiliency – and so much more!

Also scheduled at the symposium will be a special panel of legal experts, judges who will share their experiences, common issues and encounters found in probate court and in master-in-equity court. There will also be discussion on the History of Heirs’ Property and Black land loss.
