Lowcountry Mentoring Agency Kicks Off Monthly Virtual Sessions with Success
Youth Empowerment Services, Inc. (Y.E.S.) hosted its first Worth Beyond Measure mentoring program on September 26, 2021. The virtual launch was facilitated by Speaker Jackie Brewton, who spoke to an online audience of well over 50 participants on topics such as How to Drama-Proof Your Back 2 School. The live session took place with live chat and interaction available with open discussion and comments ranging from peer pressure and the impacts of the presence of social media were discussed. “Talk to yourself. Uplift yourself. Love yourself” were words of encouragement given to teach the girls how to harness their own power of positivity and prompts about discerning true versus fake friendships were met with quick replies to “drop them completely” and “get rid of fake friends.”
Brewton emphatically gave verbal rewards to the girls offering that she was “glad to see that y’all aren’t letting society destroy your self-esteem” and closed out by thanking other panel hosts and Y.E.S. Founder, Roslin Fields for “letting her hang out with them tonight.”
Brewton’s energy and excitement was matched and met with many thanks and chat comments that left the girls saying “I love hearing you speak” and “thank you so much I was lifted”
