Charleston Beer Week to Host Inaugural Hop Chef Competition

Published

on

Charleston Beer Week (CBW), now in its eighth year, will be held from Friday, October 29th through Sunday, November 7th at participating venues throughout the greater Charleston area (the event is not to be confused with the postponed Charleston Beer Fest). This year’s event will include the inaugural Hop Chef Competition on Saturday, October 30th from 6 pm to 9 pm.

Featuring Charleston’s top culinary talent alongside local and regional craft breweries, chefs will cook with booze to craft a signature dish incorporating their partnered brewery’s beer. This year’s lineup of teams include:

  • Sycamore with Indaco
  • Southern Barrel with Cherrywood BBQ & Ale House
  • Commonhouse with Rebel Taqueria
  • New Belgium with Hall’s Signature Events
  • Columbia Craft with 2Nixons
  • Estuary with CudaCo
  • Wild Leap with Tobin’s Market

A celebrity panel of judges – Parker Milner (Post & Courier), Brandon Plyler (Edmund’s Oast), and Brannon Florie (Florie’s Dining Group) – will crown a winner in addition to the crowd’s ‘People’s Champ.’ Tickets are still available for purchase online ($70 including tax with the option to donate either $5 or $10 to the event’s nonprofit partner, Little Chef Big Chef by Louie’s Kids.)
