***UPDATE, 4/1/13***: ABC News 4 notes that several other entities will join the USS Yorktown in either turning blue or shining some blue lights on April 2nd starting at 8:15 pm. That list includes:

  • Old Exchange Building
  • Dock Street Theatre
  • Charleston Harbor Pilots Assoc. – office and pilot boat
  • MUSC Tower – horseshoe area’s circular drive
  • Ashley River Bridge

The USS Yorktown has already gone pink for Breast Cancer Awareness, but now the aircraft carrier is preparing to go blue.

Patriots Point is going to “Light It Up Blue” on April 2nd for World Autism Awareness Day. The blue lighting dispalying on iconic landmarks is supposed to represent people “shining a light on Autism.”

Be sure to snap some pictures of the Yorktown if you are walking across the Ravenel Bridge that night – seeing the large ship covered in blue lights will probably look pretty cool.
