Homeless No More Holds Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for New Education Facility
Homeless No More, a nonprofit offering emergency services, transitional and affordable housing for homeless families across the midlands, will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony for their new education facility at 3:30 pm on Monday, October 25th at 1705 McFadden Street, Columbia.
“With the opening of our new education building, Homeless No More will finally have a building that lives up to the incredible children’s programing our staff provides,” said Lila Anna Sauls, Homeless No More’s President and CEO.
The 5,000 sf building will house two offices and six classrooms for after school care, summer camp, and adult life skills classes. On Monday, a group of children will cut the ribbon and tour the place for the first time.
With the help of local design and contracting firms, the space was carefully designed for children, teens, and parents to feel comfortable, secure, and inspired. The clasrooms and learning spaces will serve large groups, but still feel like home.
The new education facility is part of Putting Families First, a capital campaign that started in 2019 and has raised more than $5.8 million for expansion projects to better serve the families at Homeless No More. The campaign included the construction of 15 affordable housing units known as Myrtle Grove, rehabilitation of new dormitories at Family Shelter, and the construction of new life-skill space and warehouse facilities at St. Lawrence Place.
“Homeless No More is strategically growing to meet the needs of our families,” said Sauls. “We couldn’t do this without the continued support from our community.”
