Emma Stone to Turn Charleston Writer Stacy Willingham’s Debut Novel into HBO Max Series
On January 11th, Charleston writer Stacy Willingham will release her debut book, A Flicker in the Dark, via Minotaur Books. Despite not being available in stores yet, the story is already set to be adapted into a HBO Max series by actress Emma Stone’s production company. Plus, the story rights have also been sold to over a dozen other countries around the world.
Oscar-winner Stone and writer-husband Dave McCary are developing the series adaptation via their film/TV production company Fruit Tree. No premiere date has been announced yet.
Willingham’s debut novel follows Chloe Davis, who was shocked to discover at 12 years old that her own father confessed to the murder of six teenage girls in their small Louisiana town. 20 years later, Chloe is a psychologist in Baton Rouge whose life begins to unravel when local teens start to go missing.
