Millicent Middleton to Announce Campaign for Charleston County Council Feb. 1

Millicent Middleton today announced the expected launch of her campaign for the Democratic nomination for the Charleston County Council seat for District 8.

Here’s a release from her campaign:

Millicent has a long record of activism in the Charleston area and recently ran for the South Carolina House seat 116. Millicent is well known and well liked among the people of the sea islands and knows their issues intimately from education to infrastructure to the local environment and even the effects of climate change on the local geography and how our local and wider community can do its best to combat that crisis and mitigate its effects, especially on the most prone to its worst effects when the hurricanes strengthen and the ocean rises.

The sea islands require a voice powerful in tone and compassionate in nature pouring from the experiences of a woman who is familiar with the unique and nuanced subculture that comprises western hinterlands of the City of Charleston extending from the detritus-colored tides of the inter-coastal waterway and through the pastoral farmlands of John’s Island. Millicent believes she can fill that role and she will announce at the Charleston County Courthouse at the Four Corners of Law at the intersection of Meeting and Broad Streets in downtown Charleston at noon on February 1st, 2022.
