South Carolina Aquarium Announces Partnership with Charleston Coffee Roasters
The South Carolina Aquarium on Tuesday announced that beginning this year, Charleston Coffee Roasters will be the lead sponsor of the Nutritional Care Program, which sustains the animal population in the venue’s care.
More than 200 pounds of food are prepared daily for the 5,000 animals that reside at the Aquarium. The Aquarium animal care team manages and monitors the nutrient uptake of each animal to ensure optimal health and wellbeing by providing a diet of high-quality, sustainably sourced nutrients in a combination of restaurant-quality food and, as appropriate, species-specific vitamins. Charleston Coffee Roasters’ support of animal nutrition will positively impact the lives of the Aquarium’s permanent residents, as well as the treatment of sick and injured sea turtles undergoing rehabilitation in the South Carolina Aquarium Sea Turtle Care Center.
“Partnerships with companies like Charleston Coffee Roasters, who operate with environmentally sound and sustainable principles, build confidence not only around the future of our animal care program, but around the authenticity of our shared commitment to protecting wildlife and wild places,” said Courtenay Lewandowski, chief advancement officer at the South Carolina Aquarium. “The funding of our Nutritional Care Program adds powerful momentum to the Aquarium’s Animal Care Sustainers Fund, a multi-year campaign designed to deliver recurring resources for all of the animal care operations within our facility.”
Charleston Coffee Roasters was founded in 2005 and only purchases coffee from growers who practice sustainable farming and encourage biodiversity.
