We Are Family Announces Charleston Youth and Adult Queer Proms

Tri-county-based nonprofit We Are Family (WAF) will soon host their Charleston Queer Proms, giving adults and youth alike an opportunity to express themselves in a safe, inclusive environment. WAF’s Queer Youth Prom on April 30th, and Queer Adult Prom on June 4th, will both offer LGBTQI+ members and allies the chance to experience the fun of prom without any cis-heteronormative expectations.

Free to all local middle, high, and homeschoolers, Queer Youth Prom was born in 2014. The event will take place at Charleston Union Station from 6 pm to 10 pm, where teens will be able to dance and show off their pride. Along with an open dance floor, Queer Youth Prom will feature a flower crown station, photobooth, game room, and a quiet room for relaxing. Tickets are free, but must be reserved in advance on Eventbrite.

Over 18 and want to join the fun? WAF will be hosting its Queer Adult Prom on June 4th, providing LGBTQI+ adults with the prom experience they have always dreamed of. More details about Queer Adult Prom to be released at a later date.
