Community Donations Drive to Support Ukraine Being Held Saturday

Charleston’s Eastern European community will host a community drive to collect, pack, and ship supplies to help the people of Ukraine at the city’s 14 Sumar Street site this Saturday, March 5th, 2022, beginning at 9 am.
The event is being organized by Euro Foods, an Eastern European Cafe & Bakery located in West Ashley. Volunteers are requested to help organize and pack up the supplies for shipping.
A truck is being provided by Oleg Kulyk and his truck company Bulmaks Inc. to drive the donations to Meest-America Inc. in New Jersey. From there, they will ship the donations to Ukraine.
People who wish to donate supplies are asked to bring the following items:
- Cardboard boxes
- Yard bags
- Foldable tables and chairs
- Packing tape
- Commercial scale
- Empty pallets
- Commercial Plastic wrap for palletsFunds to ship ($2.30 per lb)
- Non-perishable food
- Blankets and Bedding
- Candles
- Containers for liquids (canisters for water, fuel, lubricants with capacity of 10-20 liters)
- Disposable utensils and tableware
- Drones
- First aid and first aid kits
- Generators
- GPS
- Hygiene products (women’s sanitary products, diapers, etc.)
- New thermal underwear, socks and shoes for men/women/children
- Protective military gear (helmets, bulletproof vests, tactical backpacks, boots, gloves, dry rations)
- Satellite phones
- Standalone lamps
- Tents, mattresses, sleeping bags
- Walkie-Talkies
