***UPDATE, 4/16/13***: The Navy patrol boat that crashed in the Charleston Harbor on Saturday has now sunk. It is now known that the rescue boat hit a buoy on its way out to the Navy boat.

A city firefighters’ rescue boat crashed in the Charleston Harbor late last night while responding to a crash involving a Navy boat. The Navy’s vessel crashed into the jetties in the harbor after 10 pm last night.

It’s unknown what the rescue boat hit or what led to the original accident involving the Navy’s boat.
