SeamonWhiteside Completes Civil Engineering and Landscape Architecture for Mount Pleasant Town Hall Track
SeamonWhiteside (SW+), a full-service land design firm with offices throughout the Carolinas, is proud to announce its completion of civil engineering and landscape architecture for the new Mount Pleasant Town Hall Track. This marks the completion of the improvement project at the Town Hall complex, which includes a new Town Hall and Town Hall Gym. Initial construction of the track began in July of 2021 and was completed last month.
The Town partnered with the College of Charleston to demolish and upgrade the existing track surface with a new rubberized running surface. This track will add tremendous value to the community, offering an upgraded surface better suited for athletes, new field and track lighting, covered ADA compliant bleachers for spectators, a storage area, and brand new fencing and scoreboard on the field.
The track is used by the College of Charleston Track Team for daily practices but is also free and open to the general public for recreational use.
“Our biggest goal in the execution of this project was to create an area that served both the athletes in our community and the general public. It was important for us to provide them with a health and wellness space and a local gathering spot,” says Lee Gastley, Managing Principal at SeamonWhiteside. “We’ve been anxiously waiting to open this track to the community and are excited for them to be able to enjoy it just in time for the summer months ahead and for many more seasons to come!”
SeamonWhiteside worked closely with partners and consultants on The Mount Pleasant Town Hall Track to bring the master plan to a reality. SMHa served as the Architect, Hill Construction served as the Contractor on this project, and Critical Systems Engineering completed the lighting.
