Press Release

For the second consecutive time, Colleton Medical Center has received an “A” Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade. This national designation recognizes Colleton Medical Center’s achievements in protecting patients from harm by providing safe healthcare services.

“The “A” Hospital Safety Grade recognizes Colleton Medical Center’s high standards in patient safety,” said Jimmy Hiott, Colleton Medical Center CEO. This honor belongs to every single member of our team. As a result of their efforts, our patients know they’re being cared for at one of the safest hospitals in our area.”

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is an elite designation from the Leapfrog Group, a national independent watchdog that sets the highest standards for patient safety. The group assigns an A, B, C, D, or F grade to hospitals based on 30+ national performance measures reflecting errors, injuries, accidents, and infections, as well as systems hospitals have in place to prevent harm.

“As our health care system continues to feel the strain of the pandemic, I thank the workforce and leadership of Colleton Medical Center for sustained commitment to patient safety, day in and day out,” said Leah Binder, president, and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “An ‘A’ Safety Grade is an outstanding achievement and one that is not possible without a 24/7 effort by the entire health care workforce to protect patients from harm. This community should be proud.”
