The “Low Country Dancing with Stars” Oxygen Ball will return to the Gaillard Center on June 17th. The fundraising event will be emceed by ABC News 4’s Tessa Spencer and will include dinner, live dance performances by local celebrities, live and silent auctions led by ABC News 4’s Erin Kienzle, and special guest performances. Funds raised support the mission of the American Lung Association through health education, advocacy, and groundbreaking research.

Local celebrities have been working diligently with International Ballroom Dance Studios to prepare dances from several different dance genres. Celebrity dancers will include:

  • Herbert Drayton III, Managing Partner, HI Mark Capital
  • Erin Mansour, Stryke Fitness
  • Mary Margaret Nelms, VP & GM, WCIV Charleston and WPDE Myrtle Beach/Florence
  • Laura Patrick, Owner and CMO, Bay Street Biergarten
  • Dr. John Rink, DDS, AAACD

“We are so excited to be back and to bring together this group of local celebrities from our community in such a stunning backdrop,” said Shelley Hochman, this year’s Oxygen Ball Co-Chair. “These past two years have presented incredible challenges for everyone, but especially people who live with lung disease. The Oxygen Ball is an engaging in-person event that will provide hope to people with lung disease and lung cancer, while also funding life-saving research.”

The American Lung Associations says that more than 653,000 South Carolinians live with lung diseases like chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and asthma.

“The American Lung Association is proud to offer this unique event to our community,” said Virginia Lawrence, Senior Vice President with First Citizens Bank and this year’s Co-Chair of the Oxygen Ball. “Proceeds from the Oxygen Ball allow us to fund life-saving research, provide community-based support programs for those living with lung disease, and advances much-needed advocacy efforts to ensure clean air for all.”
