Press Release

Six years after opening her boutique fitness and wellness studio in the penthouse level at 163 Rutledge Avenue, Longevity Fitness Charleston owner Jennie Brooks is proud to re-open the doors as the new owner of the entire building and rebranding it as the Longevity Club.

The step of purchasing the entire building became a reality in late 2021 and she seized the opportunity as it was always in the back of her mind. Brooks says, “when I opened in 2015, I dreamed of expanding the business footprint to include the entire building but it was important that I grew at the right pace to maintain a level of quality and service for which we have become known.”

The newly acquired second floor of the building adds 5,000 square feet alone and will include “The Club” level where guests and members work out on their own with cardio and strength machines by Technogym and Cybex. Also on the new floor is a second Pilates apparatus studio, private shower rooms and additional lockers, and a larger conditioning class studio offering TRX, Barre, Functional Integrated Training and Brooks’ signature class, Sweat Therapy.

To round out the expansion, the wellness offerings now have dedicated spaces for acupuncture and holistic healing studio operated by Tarah Herrington of Well Rounded Healing; chiropractic care, functional medicine and testing, and nutritional counseling operated by Bradley Brunner of Brunner Wellness; and a private, “clean products” salon operated by a Charleston-based hair and nail professional.

The new interiors are consistent with the same neutral hues, wood elements, and calming aesthetics found throughout the building, with very special touches including custom carpentry by Jennie’s brother, Eric Brooks, of Brooks Custom Woodworks, located on Sullivan’s Island. Also included in the family affair are Jennie’s mother, Benita, who manages Member Services and the new retail boutique located on the ground level, as well as Jennie’s  stepfather, Bobby, who leads the TRX and personal training program.

Personal training will remain on the third floor where guests receive the utmost attention and care in a clean-lined private suite with state-of-the-art equipment by Keiser. Other amenities include a private recovery lounge with infrared sauna, chromatherapy and Zero Gravity massage chair.

The fourth floor will remain the penthouse Pilates studio for Reformer classes and Wellness Room for massage therapy, stretch therapy and facials, but also feature a Serenity Studio with built-in infrared lighting, rooftop access and a restorative ambience for yoga, Mat Pilates, stretching, mindful movement and sound bath meditation. The 2,000 sq. foot wraparound terrace attached to the fourth floor and outfitted with lush greenery will continue to host outdoor classes and sessions, member happy hours and other private events.

With the expansion, the Longevity Club will enhance membership offerings but keep it capped to ensure the safety and comfort level of each client and honor the ‘boutique’ integrity. Visit LongevityFitnessCharleston.com.
