North Charleston Fire Department Hosting Car Seat Check Event
How certain are you that your child is the safest they can be while riding in the car? With vehicle crashes being a leading cause of death for children 1 to 12 years old in the United States, it’s very important to make sure your child is in the correct safety seat to accommodate their growing bodies. Car seats can reduce the risk of fatal injury in a crash by 71% for infants and 54% for toddlers. Know for sure if your child is in the right car seat!
To help caregivers transport children as safely as possible, the North Charleston Fire Department, along with Safe Kids Charleston Area, MUSC Children’s Health, and South Carolina DHEC, will be hosting a FREE car seat checkup event on June 16th from 9 am to 11 am at North Charleston Fire Station 8 (8045 Dorchester Rd).
To learn more about this event, contact Fire and Life Safety Educator, Laura Kondor, of North Charleston Fire Department, at (843) 740-2647 or e-mail: LKondor@northcharleston.org. Technicians will conduct car seat checks at this event on a first come, first serve basis.
