Press Release

Beacon Community Bank held the groundbreaking for its new headquarters location this morning. This will be the bank’s sixth location since opening the doors of its first branch on East Bay Street in 2018 and will relocate the bank’s current headquarters from downtown Charleston to North Mount Pleasant.

Mount Pleasant native, entrepreneur, businessman and Chairman of the Beacon Board Tommy B. Baker told the story of how Beacon Community Bank came to be and why Mount Pleasant, specifically the Six and Seven Mile Community, is the natural next step for the bank. The Honorable Reverend Jimmy Gallant recognized Louis Jefferson, Jeannette Lee and other members of Community Action Group for Encouragement (CAGE), and the group was presented with a key to their very own office that will be located in the new headquarters. Mount Pleasant Mayor Will Haynie expressed the importance of having a local community bank in North Mount Pleasant.

The program also included a moving dedication to late Beacon Community Bank Loan Committee Chairman and founding Board member Bill Hall, Sr. Beacon Community Bank HQ plans to open within the next year.
