Hollywood, SC native Darlene Dunmeyer-Roberson has officially launched her campaign for Charleston County School Board District 8. The areas in Charleston County Schools District 8 include Hollywood, Ravenel, Edisto Island, Wadmalaw Island, Johns Island, and parts of West Ashley and James Island.

Dunmeyer-Roberson said she filed because she “believes in the concept of community and bringing solutions that work for our schools in the rural areas.”

As a product of what is now the newly-formed Charleston County School District 8, Dunmeyer-Roberson has seen firsthand its benefits and shortcomings.

“I believe every child deserves access to a high-quality public education, so I will always advocate for students and educators,” she said. “As your School Board Member, I’ll work to raise teacher pay, reduce class sizes, increase career and technical education programs, increase grade level reading and the graduation rate.”

Dunmeyer-Roberson has worked in education, government, and school counseling for 36 years. She is currently an Education Consultant.

She was interviewed on Quintin’s Close-ups, which you can watch here.
