Pet Helpers Lends a Helping Hand to Pet Owners In Need with Community Distribution Day
On Saturday, July 23rd, 2022 from 11 am to 1pm, Pet Helpers will host a Community Pet Food Distribution event to help residents in the Lowcountry who may need additional support providing the necessary supplies to care for their beloved pets. This event was made possible thanks to a donation of 26 pallets of food and supplies from Chewy and The Humane Society of the United States.
“Animal shelters are seeing the impact of increasing inflation, as more pet owners are surrendering their animals because they can no longer afford to care for them with the rising costs of food and supplies,” said Melissa Susko, Executive Director of Pet Helpers. “This event aims to help those individuals and families who could use a helping hand. We are forever grateful to Chewy and our partnership with the Humane Society of the United States for allowing the opportunity to help our neighbors in need.”
The Distribution Event will work as follows:
- From 11 am to 1 pm – pet supplies will be distributed
- You’re encouraged to arrive early, as there are limited quantities available on a first come, first serve basis
- The items available consist of dry/wet cat and dog food, litter, and pet treats
- You are asked to remain in your car
- A Pet Helpers team member will collect your information and bring the supplies to your car
- Make sure to bring your ID
- Supplies are available per household, for publicly owned animals
- Rescues and shelters are ineligible for this program (per our contract with our partner distributors)
- Items are not for resale
If you cannot make the event, but are in need of assistance feeding your pet(s), visit www.pethelpers.org or email office@pethelpers.org to learn more about their community food bank program.
