Local Nonprofit Hosting Fundraising Event at the Music Farm
On Saturday, August 20th, local nonprofit Empowered Minds will host a fundraising event at the Music Farm in downtown Charleston. The event will run from 10:30 am to 1 pm.
Empowered Minds has been bringing yoga and mindfulness tools to downtown Title I schools for the past 14 years. Their mission is “co-creating compassionate and learning-ready classrooms.” They are volunteer based and offer services during school hours (rather than after school). All of our volunteers are trauma-informed trained as well.
Leigh Crowder-Biearman, the Executive Director of Empowered Minds, said the organization often has teachers practicing alongside their students because the nonprofit believes that teachers are “the bridge in keeping the tools alive in the classroom.”
The fundraising event will include a live DJ yoga class, mimosas, elixir bar, food, an auction, and more. You can learn more and purchase tickets here.
In addition to hosting the August fundraising event, Empowered minds is also looking for volunteers. They do a free, two-day training and offer curriculum support. You can learn more at empoweredminds.org.
