Joe Cunningham Calls for Five Gubernatorial Debates
Democratic nominee for Governor Joe Cunningham today called for five debates in the race for Governor and Lieutenant Governor. This includes one debate between Cunningham and McMaster in each major South Carolina media market (Greenville, Florence/Myrtle Beach, Columbia, and Charleston) and one statewide Lieutenant Gubernatorial debate.
In an email from campaign manager Trevor Maloney, Cunningham’s campaign emphasized the importance of discussing how to shape South Carolina’s future.
“There are a lot of exciting opportunities to expand freedom for South Carolinians and we want to make sure we have sufficient opportunity to debate the best way to accomplish that,” the campaign said. “We are proposing five debates across the state between early September and the day before early voting starts. Joe is very excited to talk about South Carolina’s future and can’t wait to debate ideas with the Governor.”
The proposed debates are listed below:
September 7th, 8-9 pm, Greenville
September 22nd, 8-9 pm, Columbia
October 11th, 8-9 pm, Conway
October 24th, 8-9 pm, North Charleston
