Local Organizations Partnering for Overdose Awareness Day Event on August 31st
The Charleston County Department of Alcohol and other Drug Abuse Services (DAODAS or the Charleston Center) is partnering with the Mt. Pleasant Police Department and Wake Up Carolina for Overdose Awareness Day. The groups will host the Light The Way For Hope event on Wednesday, August 31st, 2022, at Mt. Pleasant Waterfront Park.
The evening’s schedule is as follows:
- 7:30 pm – Narcan training, Cooper River Room
- 8:30 pm – Light the way for Hope Luminary Ceremony, Waterfront Park, 99 Harry M. Hallman Jr. Blvd., Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464
“We are looking forward to teaming up with Mt. Pleasant Police and Wake Up Carolina on this event,” said Opioid Program Manager Caitlin Kratz. “It is very important to the Charleston Center that we educate the public on how to use Narcan and about available treatment options. This event is also an opportunity to honor those who have lost their lives to substance use.”
This event is rain or shine. Friends and family can submit names and photos of loved ones to be honored by emailing them to info@wakeupcarolina.org with the subject line: OAD 2022 by August 26th, 2022.
