Tickets are now on sale for the 3rd Annual Recovery Jam, a benefit concert and artist’s gallery to raise funds for Lowcountry recovery programs and to celebrate local artists in active, self-supporting recovery. The event will be held on at the Isle of Palms Exchange Club on Saturday, October 1st starting at 5 pm.
Several local musicians and artists have been booked for this immersive experience recognizing art in all forms including painting, musical performance,s and published writing. Along with local talent, Recovery Jam will welcome GRAMMY and GLAMA Awards nominee, Mary Gauthier.
Gauthier, a celebrated American folk singer-songwriter, whose songs have been covered by dozens of performers including Tim McGraw, Blake Shelton, and Boy George, is a successful musician and author. Her songs have appeared extensively in film and television, most recently on HBO TV’s Yellowstone.
“We’re honored to invite Mary to the Lowcountry,” Ray Spellerberg, Board Chair for Recovery Jam, said. “She herself has an incredible story of overcoming addiction and adversity in the home at a young age. She stands as a powerful testament to the healing and artistic expression that music can provide.”
Recovery Jam’s philanthropic mission is to provide charitable contributions to local recovery programs in the Charleston area. This year’s beneficiary is the Magdalene House of Charleston, a women’s-only residency program located in Ladson.
“We’re grateful for the kindness Recovery Jam has granted us by naming us the beneficiary,” said Liz Milligan, Executive Director of the Magdalene House of Charleston. “Presently, we have the ability to care for six women at a time. Money raised will allow us to expand our existing property to double our occupancy, create more employment opportunities and most importantly, continue to share a message of hope to our community.”
A limited number of pre-sale tickets are available for $25 until September 10th and thereafter $35. You can learn more about the event by visiting www.recoveryjamchs.com or Recovery Jam’s Facebook.
