Tasting Notes Series to Feature Chamber Music, Food, and Wine

On Tuesday, October 25th, a new event series featuring food, wine, and chamber music will make its debut at Founder’s Hall in Charlestowne Landing. The event, called Tasting Notes, provides the audience with a live show and a three course meal paired with multiple wines.

The live show is a recital performed by world class musicians:

  • John Samuel Roper, Artistic Director, flute
  • Gretchen Roper, clarinet
  • Jenny Weiss and Frances Hsieh, violin
  • Ben Weiss, viola
  • Damian Kremer, cello
  • Adrian Grant, Head Chef
  • Jessica Haldeman, Wine Expert

Your all-inclusive ticket includes:

  • A welcome reception where you can mingle with the performers and enjoy a glass of bubbly
  • An intimate chamber music concert featuring the music of incredible African American composers
  • A three-course dinner inspired by the music and prepared on site by Chef Adrian Grant
  • A glass of wine with each course, selected and discussed by Jessica Haldeman

Appetizer Course:

William Grant Still’s “Danzas de Panama” for string quartet

Beef Empanadas de Panama (deep fried pastry filled with tender spiced ground beef)

Main Course:

Samuel Coleridge Taylor’s “Clarinet Quintet” op. 10

Larghetto affettuoso – Finale. Allegro agitato

Lowcountry Grits Bowl with Sweet Cornbread (smoked gouda grits topped with collards and smoked turkey) gluten free without cornbread

or

Gumbo Style Okra Soup over Rice with Sweet Cornbread (okra, tomato, corn, peppers, onion, beef short rib, and smoked turkey over long grain white rice) gluten free without cornbread

or

Vegetarian Gumbo Style Okra Soup with Sweet Cornbead veg

Dessert:

Valerie Coleman’s “Moambi Asante – Prayer of Thanks” for flute, violin, and cello

Classic Sweet Potato Pie with Spiced Chantilly Cream veg
