Gaillard Center Announces Shows with Squirrel Nut Zippers, The Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Béla Fleck, and more
The Gaillard Center today announced two new shows that are coming to the downtown venue in 2023 – Squirrel Nut Zippers and The Dirty Dozen Brass Band on February 7th and Béla Fleck, Zakir Hussain, Edgar Meyer, and Rakesh Chaurasia on April 25th. Tickets for both shows go on sale Friday at 10 am.
Squirrel Nut Zippers & The Dirty Dozen Brass Band reunite for The Southern Remedies Tour 2022/2023. New Orleans’ most celebrated modern brass band, The Dirty Dozen Brass Band, pairs up with the Squirrel Nut Zippers and their multi-platinum blend of 1930’s era jazz, swing, and folk. For these two groups, breaking molds and charting a new musical course is what helped each attain the highest level of success. The performances by these two critically acclaimed bands make for a delightfully eclectic and entertaining evening, with two sets plus collaboration.
Begin with the most creative exponent of the banjo in our time, Béla Fleck. Add the greatest living player of the tabla, the legendary drums—and drummer—of India, Zakir Hussain. Establish the trio with the acclaimed virtuoso of the classical (and bluegrass!) bass, Edgar Meyer. Combine with a special guest, the great Indian flautist Rakesh Chaurasia. Then finish the ensemble with the magic of improvisation. The results will be some of the most remarkable music anyone will hear this year.
Tickets for both shows go on sale Friday, September 23rd at 11 am at gaillardcenter.org.
