LTP Challenger Tour Announces Local Wild Card Recipients for Men’s Open
LTP Men’s ATP Challenger Tour beginning on Sunday, September 25th at Live to Play Mount Pleasant, on Friday announced the burgeoning players — that train full-time at LTP —- who have received a wild card for the men’s open. Additional wild card recipients will be announced soon.
Gianni Ross – Main Draw Singles
USA player Gianni Ross, 23, attended University of Virginia and was selected as the Most Outstanding Player of the NCAA Championship in 2022. Since leaving UVA in May 2022, Ross has been full-time training at LTP Mount Pleasant in their Professional Player Development Program with world-class coach Michael Sell.
Paxton Pritchard – Qualifying Singles
Paxton Pritchard, an 18-year-old tennis player from Asheville, North Carolina, trains full time at the LTP Mount Pleasant’s Pro Player Development Program. Pritchard started playing tennis at age two and was six years old when he played his first tournament. As of September 10, 2022, Pritchard is ranked 71st in the junior Boys’ 18 category of the USTA in the week ending September 10, 2022.
Carter Pate & Alec Fritzinger – Main Draw Doubles
Carter Pate is a junior at the Randy Pate Tennis Academy at Live to Play. A South Carolina native, Pate resides on Daniel Island and recently played at the Osaka Cup Team Event on 18U Boys Singles in Georgia.
Alec Fritzinger is a senior at the Randy Pate Tennis Academy at LTP. Originally from Goldsboro, North Carolina, Fritzinger recently competed in the L3 Hilton Head Singles Boys’ 18 and under. He and his doubles partner, Pate, train full-time at the LTP facilities.
“Seeing these young players’ passion and commitment to tennis combined with their hard work in traveling the 18 and under circuit is amazing. This is a rare opportunity for the public to see the next wave of rising stars in tennis.”said Patrick Hieber, Director of Tennis for the combined LTP facilities.
Admission is complimentary and additional seating will be on hand for spectators to watch international, national and local players compete. With the blazing popularity of the WTA 500 Credit One Charleston Open, LTP organizers envision the men’s tour to catch on similarly and see this opportunity to expand the community’s love of tennis.
LTP (Live to Play) Mount Pleasant is a haven for tennis enthusiasts of all ages and is located at 1513 Mathis Ferry Road. As a family-friendly sports complex, LTP offers nine clay courts, seven hard courts and two pickleball courts with full outdoor lighting. LTP Mount Pleasant is the home of a high-performance junior academy, Pate Academy, the LTP Pro Player Development Program with several WTA and ATP players training there full-time.
