In preparation for impacts from Hurricane Ian, Patriots Point Naval and Maritime Museum will temporarily close to visitors beginning on Thursday, September 29th. The museum said staff is actively preparing the ships and aircraft for potential high winds and heavy rain. In addition to the museum’s closure, scheduled events are suspended until the storm passes.

“We are following the guidance of the Charleston County Emergency Operations Center and prioritizing the safety of our staff and their families,” said Interim Executive Director Mac Burdette. “We have a comprehensive heavy weather plan in place and our crew will ensure our ships and aircraft are secure ahead of the storm.”

Patriots Point will announce plans to reopen after the storm has passed and it is safe to welcome visitors aboard. For the latest information, visit patriotspoint.org or follow Patriots Point on social media platforms.
