Charleston County Parks Closures and Event Cancellations for Hurricane Ian
Due to weather conditions expected from Hurricane Ian, all Charleston County Parks and facilities will close at noon on Thursday, September 29th, and remain closed Friday, September 30th. Parks will reopen on Saturday, October 1st after facility conditions have been reviewed to ensure staff and visitor safety. For specific park reopening schedules, visit CharlestonCountyParks.com.
The following upcoming special events are also impacted:
- Thursday evening’s Yappy Hour at James Island County Park has been canceled and will not be rescheduled.
- Saturday’s Grind for Life skateboarding competition at SK8 Charleston has been rescheduled for next Saturday, Oct. 8.
- Saturday’s Lowcountry Trail Half Marathon & 5K Run/Walk at John’s Island County Park has been canceled and will not be rescheduled.
- Park programming: Thursday’s Climbing Club and Team are canceled. Saturday’s Early Morning Bird Walk at Caw Caw Interpretive Center is also canceled.
The Campground at James Island County Park will remain open to registered guests only.
