Press Release

On Friday, October 14th, Charleston County leaders joined Charleston County Council Chairman Teddie E. Pryor for a ribbon cutting ceremony at the Social Services Building. The Pinehaven Center, a 16-acre campus located at 3685 Rivers Avenue, houses the Teddie E. Pryor Social Services building and the Keith Summey North Charleston Public Library, which is scheduled to open in 2023.

“We are excited about this new campus,” said Chairman Pryor. “This state-of-art campus is more accessible with better transportation options and ample parking. Residents will now be able to receive much needed services in one centralized location instead of having to go to multiple facilities around the County. I would like to thank County staff, the developer, design team, contractor, and subcontractors, which included more than 1500 people, who worked to complete this project over the last two years. You don’t go into public service for the recognition. You do it to help people and give back to the community. I am humbled that County Council chose to name this building in my honor. It is a blessing to be remembered in this way.”

The three-story, 175,000 square foot facility will house the Department of Alcohol and other Drug Abuse Services (Charleston Center), Tricounty Crisis Stabilization Center, South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control administration and clinics, the South Carolina Department of Social Services, and South Carolina Connections Medicaid. Agencies will move into the social services hub in the coming months. Charleston County will provide information about the Charleston Center when it opens in the new space.
