Patrick Mahomes Puts In Superb Display In Kansas City Chiefs Win Over San Francisco 49ers

Having guided the Kansas City Chiefs to four successive AFC Championship Games, winning two as well as securing a Super Bowl triumph, Patrick Mahomes continues to illustrate his consistency with another superb showing this time around.

The 27-year-old quarterback leads the way in terms of touchdown passes and yards, and if you were interested in placing a bet on the Chiefs to once again go all the way, then we strongly suggest you check out sidelines.io to see the comparison site’s analysis of the best sportsbooks to sign up with.

Mahomes’ latest efforts helped the Chiefs come back from a ten-point deficit to rout the San Francisco 49ers 44-13. It was his eighth career game with over 400 passing yards and three passing touchdowns, which is the fifth-most in NFL history.

An early interception led to the 49ers taking an early lead, but Mahomes was prepared to dig deep to salvage the situation once again;

“After the pick, we needed to go down there and get the points on that next drive. You don’t want them to get too far ahead because of how efficient and good their run game is,”

“We were able to move the ball down the field that next drive and get it into the end zone. We knew that we needed to get points on the board, but I saw early that their safeties were playing a little closer than teams usually play us.”

“I knew we’d have opportunities. It was just gonna take us protecting, which our offensive line did a terrific job of against a great defensive line. And guys winning down the field, which they did.”

Andy Reid’s side is now 5-2 and now sits second in the AFC Conference and is looking very much like a franchise that is ready to deliver on its obvious potential.

The NFL MVP award now seems to be something of a straight fight between Mahomes and Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen and their rivalry has all the hallmarks of the Tom Brady/Peyton Manning battles of the past.

The form of both was discussed at length by NFL legend Shannon Sharpe, a three-time Super Bowl winner, who believes that Mahomes is the best in the league;

“What he did against the 49ers was very impressive, but I didn’t see anything to change my mind,”

“I’ve always thought he was the best quarterback, even when he lost to the (Indianapolis) Colts on the road and Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills.”

“This season, Patrick Mahomes leads the league in passing yards and touchdowns; he’s number one in quarterback rating. (He is the) the best quarterback in football.”

It is no surprise that the Chiefs and the Bills are among the leading pack in the NFL Super Bowl betting, and you wouldn’t bet against the two teams meeting in the AFC Championship Game.

Last season it was Kansas that saw off the Bills, 42-36, in the Divisional Play-Offs, and the previous year they dealt with them in the Championship Game, and Sean McDermott is no doubt looking to get a measure of revenge this season.
