Press Release

Dorchester County invites residents to the annual Veterans Day Celebration on Saturday, November 12th, 2022, at Davis-Bailey Park (5190 E. Jim Bilton Blvd., St. George). This free, rain-or-shine event will honor and celebrate our Dorchester County veterans.

The event will kick-off with a parade along Highway 78 at 1 pm beginning at Ridge Street and ending at Academy Road. Community groups, children’s groups, civic organizations, and community members are encouraged to participate in the parade. Please submit an application to VeteransParade@DorchesterCountySC.gov.

“Your participation and attendance will help our community wide effort to honor and always remember all U.S. service men and women who have honorably served and sacrificed to defend our nation and the American way of life,” said Councilwoman Harriet A. Holman, Dorchester County Committee Chairperson for the 2022 Veterans Parade.

The ceremony to honor veterans will be held at 2pm with Mr. Henry L. Taylor, Brigadier General, United States Air Force (Retired) as the keynote speaker. Live music will begin immediately following the ceremony.

A Boot Camp Obstacle Course, Hi-Wire Double Land Slide, Mechanical Bull, Spider Jump Bungee Trampoline Ride, and a Glitter Tattoo Artist will be available in the Kid’s Zone, free of charge. Food vendors will also be on-site offering food and beverages available for purchase. Feel free to bring folding chairs and/or a blanket and spend the afternoon with us celebrating our veterans.

The event will conclude with a 15-minute fireworks show around 6:00 pm.
