The Blood Connection, SC Stingrays Seek to Collect 300 Blood Donations
While things are getting frosty in the North Charleston Coliseum ahead of the South Carolina Stingrays season-opener, the pressure is heating up: The Blood Connection (TBC) and the Stingrays have a BIG goal this season! TBC, the non-profit community blood center in Charleston, and the Stingrays have their eyes set on collecting 300 blood donations – which can save up to 900 lives.
In the third year of partnership, TBC is excited to work with the SC Stingrays to further amplify its important mission to ensure local hospitals and their patients have lifesaving blood products. TBC is the primary blood provider for Roper St. Francis Healthcare and Trident Health Systems, and provides blood additional products to MUSC Health.
“Donating blood is one of the most important things you can do help others in critical need,” said Kevin Schildt, Vice President of Corporate Partnerships for the South Carolina Stingrays. “Our goal with our partnership with The Blood Connection is to encourage our loyal fans to become fans of donating blood. You can simply donate before a game and receive complimentary tickets to come out again. The need for blood will never go away and the Stingrays are grateful to be a part of supporting The Blood Connection.”
Stingrays fans have five opportunities to donate in support of the team this season, with the first being on November 6th from 9 am to 2 pm, before the team takes on the Orlando Solar Bears. As a thank you for donating blood with TBC and the Stingrays, all blood donors will receive two tickets to a ’22-’23 home game. Blood drives will also be held on the following dates (subject to change):
- December 3 – 12 p.m. – 5 p.m.
- January 15 – 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.
- March 4 – 12 p.m. – 5 p.m.
- April 15 – 12 p.m. – 5 p.m.
Most drives are scheduled to take place inside the North Charleston Coliseum at 5001 Coliseum Drive. Donors can park in parking lot A and enter through the Coliseum Terrace entrance on the opposite side of the ticket office.
