Chef Vivian Howard, star and co-creator of the PBS shows, A Chef’s Life and Somewhere South, has added two events to her monthly salon-style conversation at Lenoir with authors Brian Noyes of Red Truck Bakery and Natalie Chanin of Alabama Chanin.

On January 15th, 2023, Noyes, founder of the Red Truck Bakery in Marshall, Va., will discuss his latest book, Red Truck Bakery Farmhouse Cookbook. While Noyes was the art director at The Washington Post and Smithsonian magazines, he baked pies and breads on weekends in his Virginia Piedmont farmhouse and sold them out of an old red truck he bought from designer Tommy Hilfiger. The bakery now has two locations in historic buildings, ships thousands of baked goods nationwide, and has earned accolades from Oprah Winfrey, Barack Obama, and many national publications. Tickets cost $65. Buy tickets at https://bit.ly/lenoirtruck.

On February 12th, 2023, Chanin, founder of Alabama Chanin, will discuss her sixth book: Embroidery: Threads and Stories from Alabama Chanin and The School of Making. Chanin, a slow design pioneer, started the company in early 2000 with the creation of hand-sewn garments made from cotton jersey t-shirts. Now, the lifestyle company is known for producing well-designed and thoughtfully made goods for the person and the home. Tickets cost $75. Buy tickets at https://bit.ly/lenoirchanin.

Each event is from 2 pm to 4 pm and begins with a cocktail and conversation between Chef Howard and the author, followed by a book signing and meet-and-greet with food and beverage inspired by the book. The events are done in collaboration with Buxton Books, whose sellers will be on hand to sell additional copies.

The next event will be on November 20th with Vishwesh Bhatt, the James Beard award-winning chef of Snackbar in Oxford, Miss. and author of the new cookbook, I Am From Here. To purchase $75 tickets, go to https://bit.ly/lenoirvish.

Lenoir is located at 68 Wentworth St. adjacent to the Renaissance Charleston Historic District Hotel. For more information, go to dineatlenoir.com
