How To Celebrate Father’s Day

Published

on

Father’s Day tends to be a more overlooked holiday than its famous partner, Mother’s Day. However, dads need love too – and a little preplanning can make sure that you and your old man have a great time together on the big day.

If your father doesn’t have anything particularly they want to do (or if he claims that he “doesn’t want a fuss”), here are a few sure-fire winners to celebrate Father’s Day in a quiet but fun way.

Things To Do On Father’s Day

Chances are, you already know most of your dad’s likes and dislikes. Feel free to alter the suggestions below to make sure you pick something he will love and remember for years.

Going Out For A Meal

Keeping things classic is always a good idea. A simple meal out with your dad – your treat, of course – is a great way to spend some time together, eat some tasty food, and catch up. Going for a meal is a quiet and relatively inexpensive way to celebrate father’s day. If your dad is okay with it, you could even make it a bigger family event.

Family Vacations

Vacations are a pricey gift, but they make memories that can last a lifetime. It’s up to you whether you want to go with your family, or if you’d rather just send Dad off on the vacation of their dreams by himself – maybe with a plus one. Either way, it’s a fantastic thing to do on Father’s Day.

Gifts

Gifts are usually a standard procedure for Father’s Day. However, depending on your dad’s sense of humor, you might want to choose something fun, quirky, and even a bit risque. Sports memorabilia, collectibles, and funny Fathers Day shirts are all great ideas for gifts, especially if you don’t have a big budget. You can always save the expensive stuff for Christmas, birthdays, and anniversaries!

Quality Time

It’s hard to put a price on quality time with your loved ones. If your dad really doesn’t enjoy a fuss and doesn’t want to “celebrate” in the traditional way, why not try something like an evening in? Watch a sports game or a movie with your dad (with or without take-out food), or simply spend a few days in each other’s company. Road trips, visits to museums, and quiet, simple walks are peaceful and a good way to guarantee quality time.

Don’t Forget To Check In Beforehand

Spending a lot of time, money, and effort on Father’s Day is a bit of a waste if you don’t see or contact your dad for the rest of the year. Feel free to ask your dad about what he’d like to do on Father’s Day, or if he’s happy with what you’ve got planned.

Check in beforehand, and let your dad know that he’s loved on other days of the year, too. Father’s Day is great, but it really is just twenty-four hours. What we do with the other 364 days of the year is important, too.
