Gov. Henry McMaster today issued an executive order suspending Pickens City Councilman Donald McKinney (right) following an indictment on sexual conduct charges.

McKinney was indicted on charges of criminal sexual conduct with a minor in the second degree. The charges stem from an October arrest where the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) said McKinney groped and performed oral sex on a victim who was between ages 14 and 16.

McKinney is suspended until such a time as he is formally acquitted, convicted, or until a duly elected successor is qualified and takes the oath of office.
