Press Release

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, 4.25 million people quit their jobs in January 2022, up from 3.3 million in 2021. In a recent survey of small to medium sized business owners, 58% said talent retention would be one of their biggest challenges in 2023.

The leaders behind the trademarked Cohesion Culture program, Dr. Troy Hall and Ben-Jamin Toy want organizations to plan intentionally and invest in company culture to retain talent and build top workplaces as they plan to kick off the new year in 2023.

“Make culture a part of your strategy and it will find something else to eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner,” Hall said.

Top Workplaces, the nation’s leading employer recognition program, named United Bay Community Credit Union (Ubay) a 2022 “Top Workplace” for its culture that values its people and amplifies talents. Ubay, a mid-sized financial cooperative operating in Michigan, working with Hall and Toy has been utilizing the Cohesion Culture strategy for almost two years.

Michelle LaClair-Ziembo, Human Resources Manager of Ubay spoke to the importance of culture.

“Culture is important because it provides the foundation, along with your core values, on which your company is built,” she said. “Many companies misunderstand engagement to mean a healthy culture, but you can, in fact, have engaged employees individually, who don’t contribute to a culture of belonging, value and mutual commitment.”

Toy remarked, “When culture is intentional it becomes much more than ping pong tables and craft beer Friday.”

Blending unconventional yet effective team building programs (no trust falls or ropes courses) with the strategic framework of Cohesion Culture has resulted in award winning programs for a variety of businesses.
