Montage Palmetto Bluff Debuts Year-Long Wellbeing Series in January
With 2023 right around the corner, Montage Palmetto Bluff’s inaugural year-long Well Living series will debut in January aptly focusing on the theme of renewal. Following the first month of the year, February’s theme, Fostering Love & Honoring Black Heritage, will pay homage to the Lowcountry’s deep connection with Black heritage through celebrations of the region’s culinary traditions, artwork, and rich tapestry of culture.
As part of the programming and timed to Black History Month and Valentine’s Day, Montage Palmetto Bluff will also debut a new ongoing partnership with Memphis-based chocolatier, Philip Ashley, who has developed four custom flavors for the resort, which will be placed in guest accommodations each night as part of the resort’s turndown service. Named the ‘real-life Willy Wonka,’ Ashley will also host a wine and chocolate tasting on Feb. 10 and 11. Additional highlights for the month of February include:
- Brown Estate Winery’s wines and pairings on menus in both Octagon and River House, and the team from Napa Valley’s first Black-owned estate winery will host a tasting in the resort’s recently opened speakeasy, Hush, on Feb. 4. *This is open to the public.
- Lowcountry artist Amiri Geuka Farris, whose multidisciplinary works will be displayed throughout the Inn Library offering guests the chance to meet the artist in person. *This is open to the public.
- Storyteller, chef and culinary historian, Sallie Ann Robinson, a sixth generation Gullah who has dedicated her life to chronicling and sharing Gullah recipes, dialect, and folklore, will lead an immersive four-course dinner. *This is open to the public.
- Community activist and cultural influencer, Luana Graves Sellars, will lead a series of talks on her Gullah Geechee roots, the history, and people.
The Well Living program for March will be Honoring Women, notably those who share their creativity, businesses, and passions, with events designed to uplift women connected to the Lowcountry. Collaborating partners include Megan Hale, owner of Savannah-based Hale Tea; Bassima Mroue and Dr. Amy Bader, founders of sparkling wellness soda, SkinTē; and Françoise Antech Gazeau, the queen of bubbly in the Languedoc whose family’s champagnes pair perfectly with southern favorites such as fried chicken and oysters.
